Welcome to Camp Wannawriteabook…

file8761269190504Camp Nano is in two days.

That’s enough to cause some palpitations right there. Even though it’s spring, and I’ve never actually been to camp in spring, it reminds me of summer camp. I participated in a few YMCA summer camps as a kid (as I was a latchkey kid growing up). While all the other kids were excited and frantic with wild energy, I didn’t really want to go. It meant you had to be social… and do… outdoorsy stuff. That was punishment for a kid that just loved to sit inside and read all day.

Let’s start the Adventure…

rocksMy finger hit the period, setting a finality to things that I’d assumed were only possible to others. I had done it. I finished a full-length book… a novel. Where had this come from? This… beast of 68 thousand words? I wasn’t a writer. Or, at least I had convinced myself, not an ‘official’ one, yet… even though I had 3 published short stories on Amazon already.

I have always loved the written word, an avid reader delving into college-level books in 5th grade. While drawn to the scifi/fantasy genres, I read EVERYTHING… mysteries, biographies, heavy science, romance, westerns… all of it.
